In the world of future beats and house music, Kathy Diamond has firmly established herself as a vocal and songwriting presence, standing out time and time again. After several releases with her production companion Max Skiba for Germany’s Gomma Records, the duo known as The KDMS (the first letters of the artists’s proper names, in case it was too quick for you) unleashes an album full of clever and appealing doses of sophisticated electro pop goodness. This isn’t kid’s stuff here; Diamond and Skiba are two accomplished and confident musicians capable of pulling their vast individual skill sets together, coming through with accessible, yet enjoyable, tunes with aplomb. “Wonderman,” previously released as a single, is a catchy and groovy number, with Diamond cooing her soulful intentions of want and desire against lush keys and bright guitar work. “Your Love is Right” is a sensual slow-burner that could become the soundtrack of bedrooms everywhere before too long. The album’s quality is unrelenting and never deviates from its objective of adding fuel to the listening, and dare I say dancing, flames. It’s a refreshing and enchanting diversion from the standard 4/4 fare.
